Dr. Ahmad Zabal
Family Medicine | Care of the Elderly | Weight Wellness | PrEP
Dr. Zabal completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Calgary, followed by a Certificate of Added Competence in Care of the Elderly. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as Medical Director for several Calgary long-term care facilities, providing steady leadership. A Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM), he is passionate about health promotion and helping patients achieve their best well-being. Outside of medicine, Dr. Zabal finds joy in cycling and a good workout. He’s even been known to engage in a marathon TV session, captivated by the Tour de France, for a whopping 10 hours straight.

Dr. Natalia Smith

Dr. Natalia Smith obtained her medical degree from the University of British Columbia. She completed her Family Medicine residency as well as the Care of the Elderly enhanced skills training at the University of Calgary. She is passionate about teaching upcoming doctors through her involvement at the Department of Family Medicine. When she is not working, she loves to spend time outdoors with her adventurous family and once they are asleep, she paints. Check out the artwork at the clinic when you’re there!

Dr. Tony Tran

Dr. Tony Tran obtained his medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan and went on to complete his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Calgary. Outside of his medical career, he has a passion for travel, as well as interests in ultimate frisbee and volleyball, and, since his relocation to Calgary, has enthusiastically taken up snowboarding and ice skating to savour the stunning beauty of the Canadian Rockies during his leisure moments.

She values building strong, long term relationships with her patients and supporting them in achieving their overall wellbeing. Dr. Anand completed her Family Medicine Residency from Mercy Health in Rockford, Illinois, USA. Raised a Calgarian, she decided to move back to Canada and continue her practice in both urban and rural areas in Alberta. She practices full spectrum Family Medicine with a passion for Women’s Health and Dermatology. She is also a clinical Preceptor with the University of Calgary, teaching medical students and residents periodically. Apart from medicine, she is passionate about travel and reading and coffee!

Dr. Esmael completed his Family Medicine training in the United Kingdom, gaining extensive experience in emergency medicine. Before relocating to the UK, he earned a Master’s in Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biochemistry in Montreal, Canada, where his doctoral research focused on novel therapeutics for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), later published in PubMed. He has a strong interest in hands-on interventions, particularly minor surgical procedures and targeted joint injections for pain management. Outside medicine, Dr. Esmael is a tech enthusiast who enjoys exploring innovative technologies and integrating them into daily life and modern medical practice.

Dr. Nicole Pressman-Schneider
Family Medicine | Women’s Health
Dr. Pressman is a Family Medicine physician who graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her residency in Anchorage, Alaska. She called Alaska home for 15 years and embraced the Alaskan lifestyle, spending her free time dip-netting for salmon, backcountry skiing, and mushing dogs. After four years in Montana, she moved to Alberta with her husband and daughter. Dr. Pressman has a special interest in Women’s Health, including hormone replacement therapy, and additional training in managing mental health conditions in children. She enjoys caring for multiple generations within a family and getting to know her patients, their stories, experiences, and individual goals. She believes that truly listening, along with empathy and compassion, can be some of the strongest medicine we have. Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring the outdoors and spending time with her family.

Dr. Trevor Cook
Dr. Cook completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Calgary before entering the Leaders in Medicine Program, completing a combined MD/MSc prior to his Family Medicine residency. He has multiple journal publications in the fields of mental health stigma and geriatric mental health. In addition to practicing family medicine, Dr. Cook serves as a hospitalist at the Claresholm Centre for Mental Health and Addictions and as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Cook enjoys hiking, camping and all things outdoors. He also drinks far too much coffee.
